Miltenberg, formerly one of the most important towns in the archdiocese of Mainz, is situated in lovely countryside on the river Main between the low mountain ranges Spessart and Odenwald and impresses through a considerable number of half-timbered buildings in its historic center.

The town houses two municipal museums: Museum Stadt Miltenberg and Museum Burg Miltenberg.

Museum Stadt Miltenberg

The Museum Stadt Miltenberg is located on the Schnatterloch, the historic marketplace with its famous Renaissance fountain. In three half-timbered houses from the 16th century the permanent exhibition shows regional history and everyday life in former times.

Museum Burg Miltenberg

Mildenburg castle stands above the town of Miltenberg and has been its landmark for more than 800 years. After extensive renovation, the architectural treasure accommodates an art museum since summer 2011. In it, icons and contemporary art are presented in an exciting dialogue.
